Preparing and Submitting Your Manuscript
First, save your entire document as one single word processor file. If your book is spread across multiple files (example: a different file for each chapter), consolidate it into one single file before submitting it. If you are using a word processor other than MS Word, choose the “SAVE AS” function and attempt to save it as a MS Word document or PDF. No alternate file formats are acceptable.
To attach your manuscript file to an e-mail, start your e-mail program (AOL, Yahoo, etc.) and click the attach button, which usually looks like a paper clip or simply says “Attach Files.” Once your file is attached to the e-mail, click “SEND. LCG Publishing will acknowledge receipt of your e-mail.
There is no need to paginate your manuscript, whether it is manually or automatically. The page numbers will invariably change during the design process. Manuscripts can be submitted in single space at the default settings of 8.5” x 11” page size and margins. You are free to change the page size and margins according to your trim size in order to get a more accurate glimpse of your book in its published format, but you do not have to.
Proofread and edit your manuscript one last time, unless you elect our optional editing services.
If your manuscript contains images and/or text created or produced by someone else and you have not already obtained written authorization, you must do so before your manuscript can be published. This prevents you from potential liability. If you are unable to secure appropriate authorization, or if you decide it is not worth the bother or expense, removing the material from your manuscript will enable your project to proceed.
